Vienna Uncorked is a unique experience that blends Vienna’s rich history with its winemaking tradition, offering a cultural and sensory journey. Vienna is one of the few capitals in the world with active viticulture within its city limits, producing high-quality wines for centuries. This project celebrates that heritage, exploring the deep connection between the city and wine - from its Roman roots to today. Participants taste three carefully selected local wines, each with its own story, paired with engaging insights into Viennese culture and history. A defining highlight is the inclusion of Wiener Volkslieder - traditional Viennese folk songs - translated into English and performed live. These songs reflect the life, emotions, and spirit of the Viennese people, creating a deeper cultural immersion. "Vienna Uncorked" is more than a wine tasting: it is a journey into the heart of Vienna, where wine, history, and music come together. Steps of the Tour The experience unfolds in six chapters, each highlighting a key moment in Vienna’s history, enriched with stories, wine, and music. • Roman Origins Introduction to viticulture brought by the Romans and its influence on early Vienna. • The Middle Ages Wine in trade and daily life, with stories of merchants and artisans. • The Habsburg Court Insights into imperial banquets and the role of wine at court. • The Heuriger Tradition The origins of Vienna’s wine taverns as social gathering places. • The 19th Century Cultural salons where art, music, and wine intertwined. • Modern Vienna A reflection on how Vienna preserves its wine heritage today.
