Marco Aurelius Probus (232-272), roman emperor, introduce Viticolture in the Roman Camp of Vindobona (the former roman Vienna). Since this moment wine plays a very important rule in the history and the development of the city. Today Vienna is the only capital in the world which is also a wine production area (Districtus Austriae Controllatus) with almost 700 hectars (1700 acres) of vineyards.
The tour will guide you through the narrow streets of the old center of Vienna, you will experience wine tasting in a noble palace, in an ancient wine cellar, and in a typical Austrian Heuriger. During the walking part of the tour you will experience the art and the history of this fascinating city, related with the history of wine. During the wine tasting, the guide will guide you in the choice of your wine and will describe you its main characteristic and will answer all your question or curiosity about Austrian wine.

Steps of the tour
We will meet in the central stadtpark (city park) in front of the golden statue of Johann Strauss, than we will start with a glass of wine at very prestigious noble palace, we will walk than trough the streets of the inner city to a typical Heuriger where we will taste another glass of wine and a gemischte platte (a tipical variety of cheese, ham, bred and vegetables).
At this point we will visit an ancient cellar (XVII century AC) with a final wine tasting there.
